It's open. . .

. . .the Doha Mums Children's Library! 

Doha Mums is excited to announce the Doha Mums Children's Library, which opened in September 2010.  This members-only library contains over 2300 high-quality titles for children ten-years-old and under and will continue to grow.  Included in the collection are pictureboard books for babies, interactive toddler books and fun books for your young readers!  Exciting storytime sessions will be part of the Library, too. . .and more developments are underway!

Library memberships are limited to registered members of Doha Mums. There is an annual fee of 100QR per family for the Doha Mums Children's Library, which is used to purchase and replace the books, bookshelves and supplies.  Members of the Doha Mums Children's Library have the opportunity to visit the library several times per week, can promote the joy of reading through attending the library storytimes and can check out five books per child, per visit!  (You'll need to be a member of Doha Mums in order to join the Library. . . to learn about the Doha Mums membership process please go here.)

The Library is staffed by Doha Mums members and is open three days per week during specific hours, including a weekend slot so that working mums can attend as well! 

Can you help?

The Doha Mums Children's Library is always accepting book donations to stock the library, so if you are leaving the country or if your children have simply outgrown their books please contact us - we'll even pick them up! Bookshelves are needed for the library, so let us know if you have some that you would like to donate or sell at a relatively low price.

We are also seeking corporate sponsors for the Library.  If your company would like to donate books, foam mats, bookshelves, library supplies or good ol' cash then we would love to hear from you!

If you are in the process of moving to Qatar and will have room in your shipment please contact us so we can arrange to ship a few books to you in the UK, Canada or the US to bring back for the Library.

So why is the Library only available to Doha Mums Members?

In short, the Library is limited to members of Doha Mums because it helps keep our administrative efforts to a minimum.  This way the Library organizers are able to access the contact information of our members should a book pass its due date, and the Library members are able to easily locate the library organizers if they have any questions. 

Joining Doha Mums is easy, though, and we welcome mums of all nationalities - you can find out more about the membership process here.
