Mission Statement

Calgary International Pre-School’s (CIPS) curriculum is a unique combination of the Canadian “Alberta Early Childhood” curriculum and various eco-friendly curriculum that will be collectively known hereinafter as the Green Start curriculum. Our Green Start curriculum has been specially developed and designed to reflect both our commitment to the environment and to ensure children receive quality educational experiences and teaching. The Green Start curriculum is enhanced and endorsed by the Preschools’ Board of Education General Director, who holds a PhD in Environmental Science and supplements the curriculum with extensive knowledge and experience in this field.

CIPS’s Green Start curriculum reflects our commitment to the environment via our daily activities and discussions with our pre-schoolers and teachers. Every aspect of the child’s experience at CIPS, from classrooms to circle time and play, reflects the child-directed and teacher-guided activities. It is simple to incorporate it into all subject areas, from Early Literacy and Early Numeracy to Creative Expression, to ensure children are exposed to these unique ideas in a variety of forms. The curriculum incorporates a school readiness program that will prepare and equip our young learners with all the necessary skills needed for the “big school”. In addition, children will learn the importance of preserving our natural resources, protecting the world around us, and helping our community. Every child will be equipped to make a difference in the world after gaining knowledge in energy efficiency, recycling, gardening and composting, sustainable materials, transportation, and indoor air quality matter.

To implement this one-of-a-kind Green Start curriculum and school readiness program, we focus on the following learning areas and expectations.

Classroom & Teacher Information

    First aid and CPR certified staff. All our staff hold a degree, diploma or certificate. Educare diploma’s and certificate courses are offered to all our staff. Continuous in-house training by professionals.

Safety and Other Information

Our facility was designed with your child’s wellbeing and safety in mind. CIPS meets all Canadian, American and European safety standards and guidelines. We strictly adhere to all policies and procedures required by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Civil Defence. All teachers and assistants come to us with a kind, caring and compassionate heart for children. They are all qualified and experienced in their roles of educating and supporting children and their needs. We have comprehensive policies and procedures for all matters pertaining to Early Childhood Education and Wellbeing. These will be discussed during the introduction interview.

This school Year has been such a happy and fruity year for Lyn. Since the day she started we noticed how comfortable and happy she was. Calgary’s atmosphere is so loving and friendly, starting from the man who opens the door, to the kind receptionist and amazing manager. Giving each day different activities and teaching them in a way they are never bored or tired. CIPS is a safe, nurturing and enjoyable environment for my little daughter Nefeli. The children are kept interested and active. There is a monthly theme and good variety of activities, including numeracy, literacy, crafts, languages (Arabic and French) which are always well prepared and thought out. Door monitoring provided me with immediate reassurance to safety as did the excellent teacher to child ratio. My daughter chats enthusiastically about her nursery and adores her teacher Miss Laura and even insists on calling in to say “hello” on days off!! As a parent I am always greeted in a friendly way and receive good feedback about my little treasure. I feel that all staff at CIPS have true love for their job and this is reflected in the time, energy and inspiration that is poured in to CIPS and the children. English was not my daughter’s first language as we are from Greece; she spoke no English at all when we joined. A year later, she can speak fluent English and at the age of 3.5 she can read little words and is really good with the jolly phonics. I could not say anything else rather than CONGRATULATIONS the CIPS! Highly recommended!!

CIPS has been a home away from home for our son James, who started school a few days after moving to Doha. The teachers, assistants and all the staff have helped us settle him into the school routine plus help the transition to a new country. He loves going to school, has lots of fun each day, and trying to get him to come home is a problem! The wide variety of activities the school offers in its curriculum, and the way they teach and demonstrate the skills has seen James grow in his confidence, his abilities and also his language skills. CIPS has been a great experience for Robbie and for us as parents. The teaching staff and management have been professional, kind and caring. Any concerns we have ever had have been dealt with swiftly and Ms. Magdelize was always available to chat. The teachers really care about the children in their care and take time to ensure each one is happy and learning in the very safe and comforting environment they have created. Robbie has had two excellent teachers at CIPS. Robbie has gone from being a very shy, quiet little boy to one who loves going to “his school“. He can count and sing songs in three languages - because he likes to do it. He has been taught in a fun way - which we, as parents, feel is how early years education should be. We highly recommend CIPS.

The Westall’s

Tristan’s schooling with CIPS has been wonderful. We are happy that he had a chance to be part of an integrated play-school program in which CIPS invests their “hearts in”. He joined the school at his tiny age of one and a half years. The versatile schooling style and the minute programs helped to develop his personal and social as well as educational skills for getting him prepared to be in the kindergarten. He will miss the school, the teachers and the staff as we are re-locating to UAE by end of this month. We thank CIPS for providing a good pre-school program staffed by well-experienced teachers.

Our family were very lucky when CIPS opened, my now 5.5year old was one of the first kids in the Preschool and he loved it. Now, my 3.5year old Mitchell is there, he loves it just as much and comes home exhausted! A huge of Mitchell’s enjoyment is because of the staff (and the slide!). All the staff are wonderful, they are extremely caring and genuinely interested in each and every child. I cannot recommend CIPS highly enough.
