With the support of Commercial Bank, children can now take their game from the practice range to the golf course by introducing a tournament on the Par 3 Course.
The recently-concluded Commercial Bank Par 3 Pro-AM has been created to support children’s development. This Pro-Am tournament is a key component in developing and encouraging children to play golf on the course with local PGA Professionals.
Education City Golf Club (ECGC) has been developing a robust golf development program over the past few years. The program now sees more than 100 children actively playing and learning golf.
In 2020, the golf club introduced a junior program called the ‘Play to Par’ designed to provide children with a ‘playing’ mindset by setting targets and goals for progression. As the child improves and develops their golf skills, the targets get stretched to progressive attainable levels by introducing course playing skills.
Socially distanced golf games with four participants in each group took part in a friendly competition to end the school calendar year.
“Since the inception of Education City Golf Club, we have been committed to growing the game of golf within Qatar. Working with the values of Qatar Foundation, we have looked at a holistic approach to developing golf with the program.
“Our approach has now developed further by introducing tournament golf for children, and with the support from Commercial Bank, the vision for creating a future golf star is on the horizon,” said Michael Braidwood – ECGC General Manager.
The tournament winners were Anthony Caira Pro, Daniil Sokolov, Elizabeth Dodds, Abigail Doods, Roland Guo / -15 (1st place), Alex Day Pro, Cameron Clark, Gabriella Franklin, Jake Franklin, Zamaan Zubair / -14 (2nd place), Nico James-Visser Pro, Douglas Thomson, Ewan McLoughney, Joshua McLelland, Zayaar Zubair / – 12 (3rd Place).
